Welcome to Positively Negative – a space for real talk about life’s messy and imperfect realities. Here, we don’t shy away from the hard stuff: grief, loss, irritations, and everything in between. Instead, we embrace it all with honesty, a touch of humour and the belief that sharing our struggles can connect us in powerful ways.
We’re not here to sugarcoat life or sell you toxic positivity. Instead, we celebrate “tragic optimism” – the idea that even in the face of adversity, there is room for growth, hope and the occasional good moan.
Tragic optimism was first coined by Austrian psychiatrist, psychologist and Holocaust survivor Viktor Frankl

What We Believe

Hi, I’m Ellie, the voice behind Positively Negative
My life has been shaped by numerous challenges which taught me the value of facing tough times head-on, finding strength in vulnerability, and sometimes just having a good moan about it all.
I’ve found that even the heaviest stories can be lightened when shared and I’m a firm believer in the power of peer support. Expect to find content on experiences, observations and insights on subjects including bereavement by suicide, childhood parental loss, neuro”diversity”, relationships, trauma and parenthood.
I’m part of the Sounddelivery Media Spokesperson Network and I’ve featured in the Metro and Big Issue, along with podcast appearances on Mentally Yours, Jordan’s Space and The Secret Life of Mothers.
